About Zeus:

Meet Zeus! Zeus spent the majority of his life in a boarding facility after he was found at 6 months old as a stray in Detroit. During 2015, people noticed that Zeus was bumping into things as if he did not see them. A vet specialist determined Zeus is blind.

Many had given up hope of Zeus ever finding a home because he is fearful of strangers. Our cofounder bonded with Zeus and shared him on her personal Facebook page where a fellow animal lover was moved by his story and wanted to help – that’s when Zeus went into a foster home for 6 months where he was THRIVING.  Although he is especially fearful of men, he bonded with his foster Dad and canine sibling.  He did well in the home, yard, and he is amazing going for a walk because he relies very heavily on the leash for guidance.  Unfortunately his foster Dad was unable to foster indefinitely and because we could not find another foster, Zeus had to be transferred to our shelter.

Zeus has settled into the shelter life to the best of his ability, but he is still very uneasy of unfamiliar sounds and people.  This has lead to him doing spins in his kennel which is a sign of stress.  We would love for another person to take a chance on Zeus to either foster or adopt him.  While it may take a few introductions for him to grow comfortable with a new person or family, once he has bonded with you, he is your friend for life.  Please know that this is a very scared dog; we do not believe he was born blind.  He is a dog that with time, patience and love will settle into a home and become your best friend.

If you are interested in setting up a meet-and-greet, we ask that you submit your application to bark@iheartdogs.org, and we will follow-up within 72 hours after we have had a chance to review it.  To read more about our adoption process, as well as download our adoption/foster application, please go to our Adoption Process page.
