About Watson:

FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR WATSON’S HEARTWORM TREATMENT:

Watson is a friendly Beagle who was transferred to us from another shelter after his lifelong owners surrendered him. He is currently on a diet as he is extremely overweight for a beagle. This sweet boy is all beagle; he would follow his nose to the end of the world, especially if there is food involved! He is pretty laid back but understandably confused at the shelter; despite his low energy level, he would greatly benefit from a home that will take him for walks to help him get back into shape! He is great with other dogs and with children of all ages, but does have some medical issues that his new family will be prepared to handle. Watson has hypothyroidism, (which is part of why he is so overweight) and will require daily medication (fortunately it is very affordable). Watson also has food allergies and requires very specific kibble and treats to keep him from developing skin issues; there are medications that could help with this as well. Unfortunately, Watson also tested positive for heartworm once coming into our care; this is very treatable, but he would benefit from a foster or forever home to recover in. Watson is incredibly sweet and enjoys going for walks. He seems to be potty trained and has the perfect beagle bay when he is excited or upset. We think Watson would thrive in just about any environment but will require a family willing and able to provide for his medical needs – his medical needs are going to make it difficult to find Watson a home so if you’re even slightly considering him as a family member, please give him a chance and ask to meet him.
