About Vivian:

Vivian is a sweet but shy mixed breed dog who was found living under the porch of a condemned house with several other dogs. While the other dogs eluded our attempts to capture them, Vivian was very quickly trapped and brought to our Haven. When she was found, she had an injury to her ear which may have resulted from frostbite. She has been all cleaned up and treated, and is ready to learn what being a pet is all about! Vivian seems familiar with humans as she will approach, take treats from your hand, and even offers gentle hand kisses. Unfortunately, she is not quite ready to be touched and loved on; she has probably been on her own for some time. She is also unfamiliar with a leash and will fight to get it off; this is something that is workable with patience, and we think she will make a quick turnaround. Despite not being the most social dog, Vivian has shown zero signs of aggression. She very quickly settled into her foster’s home, making herself comfortable on the bed and sharing excited hellos with her doggy foster sibling through a gate. We think she will figure out that family life is awesome in no time! At this time, we are recommending Vivian go to a home with other dogs to help boost her confidence. However, she is probably not a great fit for a home with children. Vivian will make a good dog for a patient person willing to put in a little work to bring her out of her shell. Unfortunately, Vivian has tested positive for heartworm disease. I Heart Dogs will cover all costs of treatment at our local vet but Vivian’s adopter will need to be committed to getting him to and from appointments and following the doctor’s recommendations.
