About Silas:
Silas is a pit mix who came to us very neglected and in rough shape. He was found living on his own on the streets of Detroit, covered in old wounds and scabs and dried blood. He was thin, dirty, itchy, and missing a bunch of his fur. We believe this poor boy had been on his own for quite some time. Despite this, he is a very sweet, docile dog who loves to please. He is a big fan of treats and head scratches. He is a bit of an old soul — he is calm and gentle, and when out in the yard, he will stand and let out sad, longing howls. We hope eventually Silas comes to realize he doesn’t need to be sad any more. Although he has not yet been tested with other dogs, he seems to pay them no mind through the fence and doesn’t react at all when barked or snapped at, so we imagine he would do well. Despite scavenging for food on the streets, Silas has also shown no possessive behavior and is so gentle that we believe he may do just fine with kids.
