About Ricky:

Ricky is a Cocker Spaniel mix whose life didn’t start out that well. The only family he knew left him at a high kill shelter because he started getting a little “grumpy” with the small children in the home. He was scheduled to be gassed the next day, but thankfully he was rescued just in time and given a second chance at life.

When he first arrived he was in very bad condition and was rushed to the vet. Everyone quickly realized why Ricky was grumpy… his skin was severely infected and bled as he was given a bath. His eyes were cloudy with infection, and he was completely covered in fleas. He was dehydrated, malnourished, and his stomach was infested with worms and parasites. Both of his ears had such horrible yeast infections that they were actually sealed shut. No wonder Ricky was grumpy, he was in a lot of pain.

Fast forward to today and you will see that Ricky has found a new leash on life! Ricky is excellent around other dogs and he loves people too. Sometimes it takes him a little while to warm up to new people, but he can be quickly won over with yummy treats and walks.  As his confidence continues to grow, his true personality is starting to show and he is enjoying belly rubs and affection again. Ricky knows commands such as “sit”, “shake”, “lie down”, “roll over”, and “speak”. Ricky is a great dog but because of his past neglect, he needs to be in a home that can work with him and properly care for him so we prefer he goes to a calm home without young children. If you think you could give Ricky the loving, forever home he has been waiting for fill out an adoption application TODAY!

Please note that Ricky is presently living in a foster home, so introductions need to be scheduled ahead of time.
