About May:

May is a Bassett Hound mix (likely with Catahoula or Aussie) who came to us from another shelter after being found as a stray. May had one of the worst cases of mange we’ve seen in a long time and, while she has been treated and her fur is growing back, we are still working on clearing up the skin and ear infections that csme along with it. May is a very sweet, gentle dog who will give kisses and stays close to your side. She can be a little nervous in new situations but settles in quickly; she has no fear of people, however, and will approach without hesitation. May walks well on a leash and is very good in the tub (though she doesn’t seem to enjoy the water very much). She is quiet and keeps her kennel pretty clean. Unfortunately, her skin infection makes her very itchy and we can tell this poor girl is miserable — she is on plenty of medication to help and we are hoping for a quick recovery! Despite not feeling so well, May is a calm dog who enjoys her time with people and gets along with other dogs. We think once she is fully recovered, she is going to be a very happy, loving companion for just about any home! We think May would do well in a home with other dogs and children of all ages.
