About Honey:
Honey is a gorgeous Cattle Dog mix who was initially found sitting under a bridge on I-94. She had on a collar and was clearly familiar with people, but she had clearly not been taken care of properly for some time. Honey has an old injury in her rear leg which causes her foot to have a slightly strange appearance — it is fully healed and cannot be repaired, but it doesn’t seem to bother her! Once she settles in, this sweet girl comes to life and will run around chasing toys! She also gets the “zoomies” when she is excited and enjoys it when her human pals chase after her as well! Though Honey is well behaved and loves all people, she *really* comes to life in the presence of other dogs and will do laps playing with her puppy pals! Honey lived with her finder for a little while before coming to us and seems to have picked up on housebreaking in that time; Honey keeps her kennel very clean and only potties when out in our yards. She does love her comfy bed and particularly enjoys her tennis balls and tiny stuffed toys! We think given time to settle in to her new home, Honey will make a fabulous companion for just about any family; she would do fine living with other dogs, cats, and with children of all ages. Honey tested positive for heartworm disease and has a heavy load. She will require a calm, low-stress environment to undergo treatment in and will need to be kept at a very low activity level until she is fully recovered. We are hoping to get her into a home ASAP so we can get her started on treatment. We will cover the cost of her treatment but any foster or adopter must be willing and able to get her to her appointments at our veterinary clinic in Eastpointe. She will have a total of 2-3 vet visits over the course of several months to complete her treatment.
