About Elroy:

Elroy is a big, handsome Cattle Dog mix who came to us from our local animal control after being found wandering the streets. When he was found, Elroy had open wounds from an embedded chain which someone had attempted to fix using spray on livestock antiseptic; this painted his neck a bright purple color which hasn’t completely worn off yet! After having his neck shaved and the wounds cleaned out, Elroy’s wounds are looking a lot better already! He is almost completely healed up and while he may always have some minor scar tissue, his fur should grow back and hide those marks completely. Elroy is a big, lovable dude who can’t help but jump up to give kisses. It it hard to believe at first meeting that Elroy can sometimes be nervous of new places and situations because he is so outgoing and happy most of the time! Elroy is a big, strong fella who could definitely use a little work on a leash; otherwise, he is an awesome dog who lesrns quickly and really wants to please his people. Unfortunately, Elroy does show some signs of separation anxiety so would do best in a home where somebody is home with him most of the time, or where he has a doggy sibling to keep him company when the family is away. Elroy does great with other dogs, would do just fine with kids who are steady on their feet, and would likely do ok with cats too!
