About Chewy:

Chewy is one of the sweetest, and biggest, puppies we have ever encountered!  He weighs 100+ pounds, but acts like a 25 pound puppy still.  He is a pure breed Komondor who grew too big and energetic for his family and young girls — but of course this isn’t Chewy’s fault!  He was confused when he first arrived at the Haven, but he has settled in and is enjoying his life.  He likes our big yard to run and play in, and we will often him find him entertaining himself with the various toys scattered throughout the yard.  He also loves the water and doesn’t hesitate lying down in the kiddie pool to cool off.  He is learning to walk on leash, but still needs work on basic manners such as sit and down as he does like to jump up and is taller than most people when he does (it’s a real hit to the ego when you find out a dog is taller than you!)!!  If you are interested in Chewy, please take some time read about his breed, as they are considered a giant breed who often used as working dogs to herd sheep.  This means Chewy is very smart and will do well in an active home that understands the significance of keeping him mentally stimulated.  Chewy will also require regular grooming much like a standard poodle requires.  If you like big dogs that are extremely friendly and active, this boy is for you.  And while we think he would children of all ages, we are recommending he go to a home with children that are very steady on their feet.  Please give this sweetie a chance at a new home where his size and energy can be appreciated, because we promise you that you will fall in love!
