About Tommy:
Tommy is an amazing little Jack Russell/Corgi mix who came to us from another shelter where he was not going to be placed up for adoption; he was shut down and terrified in that environment and they were unable to evaluate him properly. Since coming to us, Tommy has come out of his shell some, but is still stressed out by the chaotic shelter environment. He has shown signs of being protective of his space; he barks when his kennel is approached and when people come to the door. Once out of his kennel, Tommy relaxes substantially. He quickly warms up to new people but is not particularly food driven. The way to Tommy’s heart? Toys! Stuffys, squeaky balls, tug ropes… You name it! A quick game of fetch and Tommy is your best friend for life! When excited, Tommy will bounce around like a bunny and spin in circles. He gets the zoomies easily and likes to play chase with his people. He is a vocal player and may growl and bark during intense play sessions, but Tommy will always bring his toy back and will even hop on your lap briefly for your attention. He enjoys the occasional butt scratch and does fine on a leash. He seems to be ok with other dogs but will require a home without cats or children. In an active home with people ready to keep him busy, we think Tommy will be an amazing companion!
