About Samantha:

**FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED!!** Samantha is a Boxer mix who came to us with a very sad tale to tell. Samantha was adopted from another shelter when she was just 8 weeks old. Her owner thought she was too hyper and, instead of exercising and playing with little Samantha, decided to use medications to sedate her. This went on for years until her owner decided she was “too much for ANYONE to handle” and requested her euthanasia. With a lot of pleading from the vet techs, Samantha was finally surrendered and brought to us for assistance. Now off of her sedating medications, Samantha is learning to experience the world as a real dog should. She is understandably terrified; new environments and situations frighten her, new people take time to warm up to, and her familiar environment is really the only place she feels safe and secure. However, Samantha is a brave girl and has begun exploring new things like eating out of an actual dish as opposed to off the floor and laying outside in the sun. She seems to thrive when other dogs are present and will walk beside them with little fear. We think she would do well in a home with a confident canine companion to show her the ropes. Because of her nervous nature, we think Samantha would do best in an adult-only home. Samantha really just needs a patient person capable of teaching her about the world and what it means to be a pet. We think she deserves this chance as much as any other.
