Baloo

About Baloo:

Baloo is a big, handsome Akita who was found roaming with his leash dragging behind him. We thought for sure an owner would step forward to claim this boy but, despite our best efforts, nobody ever did. Baloo is a big sweetheart who gets excited to see people. He loves going for walks, hanging out im the yard, and wrestling with his human pals. He is well-mannered and calm, knows he is only supposed to go potty outside, and is very gentle. He did well for our groomer (though he wasn’t exactly thrilled about the bath) and is exceptionally quiet most of the time. Baloo likes to manipulate objects (and people) by using his paws, like hands. He gets along fine with other dogs and would likely do okay in a home with children as well!

Note: Shortly after arriving at our Haven, Baloo underwent double eye surgery to correct his entropia (an extremely uncomfortable, congenital condition where his eyelids curled inwards causing his eyelashes to constantly brush against his corneas — imagine having all of your eyelashes stuck in your eyes at the same time, at all times!). He is still in recovery as of 5/7/18, so keep in mind when you meet him that his eyes may be a little crusty and raw in appearance for a time. This should heal quickly and no further intervention should be necessary once the stitches are removed!
